my little man

Yesterday, I took the kids over to my parent's house to play with their new toy: a battery operated
"Rhino." Kiddie type golf/go cart. I got some great pictures and not so great pictures. However, this one was my favorite! Even though he does not have a smile, I love how you can tell he is fixated on something (in this case, it was PawPaw). I even love how his face is golden from the rays of the setting sun. Had I not had my SLR and video cameras in my hand, I would have laid down to get a more level shot. Since he likes to move, and he moves quickly, I probably would have missed the shot anyway.

He had a great time, even without being able to ride with his big sister in the Rhino. Although, it will not be long before he is riding shotgun and trying to take control of the wheel!

Tent

Ok. well, this was supposed to be a daily photo blog, but that's just not going to happen. Nonetheless, I am going to try my darndest to take more pictures with my new camera. I just need to keep it out for anytime I want to take a picture.

So here's the picture I decided to blog about:

Peyton and I were cleaning her room yesterday. OK, so I was cleaning her room. After she did a few little things for me I set up her tent to play. I placed a Dora pillow and a floor pillow so she wasn't on the plastic bottom. I chose this particular picture because of her pose. Others included Holden and her playing with the 100 plastic balls. What a blast to watch, much less play with. I even captured her trying to Velcros herself inside so no one could "get" her.
This picture to me exudes happiness and playfulness! Her sitting like that gives me the thought of "why can't I play too!
I like the way the picture turned out too - my subject is taking up most of the picture. The background should have been blurred a bit though. (by the way - the clothes in the background have been put away)

a simple start

Hello everyone! Recently, I purchased two new cameras (Canon XTi SLR & Canon SD1000) and enrolled in a photography course. I have always loved taking pictures and finally decided to take it one step further.

My hopes for this blog is to increase the amount of pictures I take and to improve my technique and narrative skills.

I was setting up my blogger account when a coworker asked if I had a camera phone because he found this little blue egg sitting randomly in a tree outside our hangar. Since I had my small camera in my purse, I thought it would be a perfect opportunity to start my blog. I know it is not the best picture. However, standing on my tippy toes, in heels, in mushy mulch, I think it turned out pretty darn good. Also, I was not even eye level with the egg.

Well... here is my first blog, crude as it may be. Please, feel free to leave comments (regarding my photos or my writing), ideas, requests...

Cheers!
